What's this 'Gratitude' I Keep Hearing About...?

Writer: Josie SavitskiJosie Savitski

We’re officially in the last TWO WEEKS of the 75 Rogue Wellness Challenge—how are you feeling? Have you been celebrating your wins, or are you more focused on what’s not going perfectly?

It’s easy to get caught up in the mindset of not enough—not exercising enough, not eating “clean” enough, not seeing enough progress. But what if the key to long-term success isn’t pushing harder, but instead appreciating what you’re already doing? You've likely heard me, an influencer, another teacher, or even your spiritual leads talk about 'practicing gratitude'. This week, we’re diving into gratitude and how it can shift your perspective, support your habits, and keep you moving forward.

The Science Behind Gratitude

Gratitude isn’t just about good vibes—it has real effects on your health. Research shows that practicing gratitude regularly can:

✅ Reduce stress and anxiety

✅ Improve sleep quality

✅ Strengthen motivation and consistency

✅ Enhance overall well-being

When we focus on what we appreciate, we’re more likely to stay engaged with our goals. Instead of feeling like we have to do something, gratitude helps us recognize that we get to do it. And that subtle shift? It makes all the difference.

Gratitude for Your Body & Movement

How often do you finish a workout and immediately think about what could have been better? Maybe you wish you lifted heavier, ran faster, or stretched more. What if, instead, you paused to appreciate the fact that you showed up?

Your body is carrying you through this challenge—it deserves some love. Gratitude for movement could look like:

💛 Acknowledging how your body supports you each day

💛 Recognizing small wins (a deeper squat, a smoother breath, showing up when you didn’t feel like it)

💛 Using recovery as an act of self-care instead of punishment

When you shift from criticizing what your body isn’t doing to celebrating what it is doing, you create a mindset that supports sustainable change.

Simple Gratitude Practices to Try This Week

Want to bring more gratitude into your daily routine? Try these:

🌅 Morning Gratitude Check-In: Before your feet hit the floor, think of one thing you’re grateful for—your breath, your strong legs, the people supporting you.

📖 Gratitude Journal: Write down three things each day you appreciate about yourself, your health, or your progress.

💬 Express It: Tell someone you appreciate them. Share gratitude for your Rogue community, your workout partner, or even yourself!

💡 Challenge: For the rest of the challenge, find three things each day that you’re grateful for—big or small.

Pause, Reflect, and Keep Moving Forward

Take a deep breath. Look at how far you’ve come. Gratitude isn’t about ignoring challenges—it’s about choosing to see the progress, the effort, and the growth.

So, what are you grateful for today? Drop a comment in the Rogue community and let’s celebrate together. 💛

I'm grateful you're here!

Josie
